Baptism

THE SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM AT ABVM
 

The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated twice a month at 1:15 pm in the Church (except for Lent).  To schedule a baptism, please go to the Welcome Desk after any Saturday 4:30 pm Vigil Mass or 10 am Sunday Mass and the deacon or priest will assist you.

Parents must be registered parishioners.  They are asked to attend a pre-Baptism class if this is their first child. 

GODPARENTS

Every child must have no less than one and no more than two godparents of the opposite sex.  Godparents must have received all of the Sacraments of Christian Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion.  They must be practicing the Catholic faith and married in the Catholic Church unless they are single and living without a partner.  A letter of permission to serve as a godparent is required from their pastor.

CHRISTIAN WITNESS

A baptized non-Catholic Christian may serve as a Christian Witness during the ceremony as long as a godparent is also present.  A Christian Witness must be active in his or her faith.
